Well, it took me a while but I finally finished this one! I still find it amazing how rich Roland's world is, and how you can go from one modern derelict city in the wake of Captain Tripps (yes, good ole Captain Tripps comes into this story!) and then get taken back in time (through Roland's storytelling only, but still) to more of a medieval/western setting in Meijis, with farmers and cowboys and a lotta horses. Then near the end of the story, you find yourself in Oz! It's what I'd call insane and very "out there", and yet in such a good way.

I've already started on the next book, and I don't have much else to say in this one, except that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, I'm relieved not to have to lug that book around with me anymore - it was a paperback, but a damn HEAVY one! It almost gave me tendonitis.

Hated this book in the series. To steal from another reviewer: I HATE ROMANCE IN MY QUESTS! I also hated Susan Delgado. And where was King’s editor for this book? It should have been about 200 pages shorter, at least. I could not finish it and I had almost three hundred pages left. I even skimmed a lot and I couldn’t stand it any more.
