Hmmm... not sure... 3 or 4 stars. I liked this book. Interesting history, particularly about the Puerto Rican Independence movement in the '70s, '80s and early '90s, and white American solidarity, about which I knew very little.

Although Block's life story is interesting, her memoir is hampered by her inability or unwillingness to write about what she and her underground companions actually DID. There is only one mention of illegal activity, and it is hard to believe that was the only thing they participated in, in thirteen years of living underground. It makes it hard to decide how much of a victim of the state she really is here. At times she also comes across as very preachy, seeing everything through a political spectrum.
