Honestly, this book had too much going on. It needed about a hundred pages removed and another serious round of line editing.

Towards the end this book just dragged on. I didn't find that I even particularly liked any of the characters. Just finished it for the year-end account.

I found the mystery to be compelling, if occasionally a little hard to follow, and the romance to be sweet and at times desperate. I’m not always tolerant these days of the

break up to save you without telling you what’s going on

A book I both didn’t want to put down, but kept making myself set aside so that it wouldn’t be over too soon.

I loved everything about this particular book, the house, the world building, the way everyone was a little bit suspicious, and the romance and relationships (generally and across the board.

Very queer, very magical, very historical, very Agatha Christie, and essentially perfect.
