If I had read this when I was 16 it would have blown my fucking mind. It would have been the only thing I thought about. It makes me sad and nostalgic - beautiful stuff.

Goodnight PunPun in my opinion isn’t Inio Asano best work but I do still somewhat enjoy it. By somewhat i mean that the story is so uncomfortable to read. The characters are disgusting. The back stories are uncomfortable and the art is terrifying in a weird way. In a writing sense provoking these type of emotions in such a way is genius but it is also very uncomfortable and hard to get through. I enjoy it to an extent. I think that i enjoyed Solanin more but i still haven’t finished the series so i’ll think back on that after.

Also i want to point out that with the 16 year old who the uncle “liked” (pedophile) her eyes were almost doll like. Her name is never stated. I think that those things almost make it seem as though the uncle only saw her as a pretty play thing and not as a human. As well as how he perceived the mother too. It’s all so uncomfortable to read but i think that in that sense inio asano did amazing.

4 stars for the story, but like -27 stars for the dynamic between a 16 and 26 year old...

"I want one person who knows me from the top of my head to the tips of my toes, without a millimeter of misunderstanding."

"Being so excessively happy makes you insecure, makes you wonder how long the good days will last. True happiness is a fleeting thing, so maybe we're meant to go all out and enjoy it while we can."

This series explores the human mind and deals with the idea that everybody is broken, everybody is fucked up.

And hell, it really hits hard.

i don’t know. the character are so strange and weird but i still enjoyed it. somehow? i preferred the first volume but i still think this one was interesting. especially with the character backstories.
