I was hoping to wait on reading Career of Evil, mostly because I wanted to savor this book until the next one was out. I absolutely love this series, and I so enjoy trying to figure out the mystery. This book is definitely the best of all them so far, and I loved every minute of it. I also highly recommend the audiobook voiced by Robert Glenister. I’ve listened to a couple of books now, and his readings are by far the best. His voice characterizations leave the characters feeling completely separate, but he lends an air of authenticity that allows the conversations and interactions to sound real.

This book finally started to open up the mysteries of both Strike and Robin. We learned things about them both, that were hinted at in other books and it was refreshing after 2 other books to really feel like I was starting to know these characters. I admit that I adore both characters, and while this book is certainly not a humorous book there were times I was chuckling while listening to their interactions. When it came to the mystery in the book there were 3 main people it could have been, and while I did figure out who the murderer was at about 60% through the book, there was a twist and caveat that I didn’t see. I love that these books keep surprising me and keeping me on my toes. They require me to really think about the mystery and the characters. Even when I’m not reading/listening to them I’m thinking about the story. Even now that I’ve finished Career of Evil, I’m still thinking about it, and wondering what I missed. Galbraith aka Rowling, does a fantastic job, and I can’t wait for the 4th book. There was a slight cliffhanger, I guess? That leaves me wanting to know what happens to Robin now. I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars for being absolutely fantastic.

I thought it was a bit amateur to tell the truth. I didn't realise it was written by JK Rowling so evaluated it solely on writing skill. It was a reasonably engaging read, although I thought the premise of the three suspects was a bit too fake.

Such a page turner. It is a gruesome subject that some may not want to read. Notwithstanding the gruesome nature, it was so fun trying to figure out who the bad guy was--the story weaving among several suspects. I could not put it down! Plus, a personal story is being developed with the main character. Can't wait to see where that goes!

This third installment might be the best of the series. Not only is the mystery/crime beautifully crafted and deceptive, we also are given more depth into Cormoran Strike. As the reader you're mislead and blind the whole time. Often in crime/hard-boiled detective novels you can begin to solve the case sometimes before the PI can. However, Galbraith leaves you in the dark about the right details to keep you at the edge of the couch/chair/bed. I cannot wait to read the next installment!

Ugh, I did not like this book. I was in a position where I needed a book fast, it had to be good, but not too good (think airplane read), and available at the library. I had read the previous two books of the series so I already knew the premise and characters so I figured why not. The story is trying to figure out who the particular bad guy is in this case between three bad guys...and I honestly didn't care by the end who it was. Also, sick of Robin getting hurt every time. I know that a woman is actually writing the books but it really feels like a man is based on that. I mean, Cormoran is fat, cranky, stubborn, etc. but the young, beautiful, smart woman is falling for him. Blech.

Ben scritto ma troppo lento: risulta difficile seguire l'indagine. Tra i libri di questa serie è il peggiore.

This was sort of tedious. These people are so bad at talking about feelings though, which honestly is very Harry Potter.

The regular plot was like very straightforward. There's a bunch of suspects, stuff happens.

The meta-plot of this series is slow and irritating. I appreciate that it ads some emotional depth, but I feel like you could do that without the tedious romance

Thoroughly enjoyed this.
