The best of the series so far!

Short Review: This is the best of the trilogy so far. I really like the character development for Cormoran and Robin. I think the method of 'knowing' the identity but not knowing who the murderer actually is until the end worked well. I do not particularly like 'mind of the killer' sections and hope that does not become a standard in the series.

Rowling has defiantly transitioned to a series that can stand on its own. I will definitely read the next. But I do wonder where she can go with the bad guys. Will she have to go to terrorism next and fulfill a lot of the other cliches' of series mysteries?

My slightly longer review is on my blog at http://bookwi.se/career-evil/

A good, standard detective thriller- only what exactly happened in the end?

Definitely the best of the three in the series. Faster moving, but still longer than it needs to be. Hoping there are going to be more!

This one is definitely the worst of the series so far.
Midway through I read another book, I couldn't be bothered anymore and I needed to get out of that repetitive and annoying story. I was worried for Strike's finances, wondering if they would get clients back, that sort of mundane train of thought that I hate and battle every day in MY real life. Also it was sort of dull to have 3 suspects and never have any sort of a hint till the very end....I dont know, it wasn't that good as the two previous books and I already have the next one sitting beside me and I am sort of scared of starting it now lol.

4.5. Hands down, the best of them so far.
adventurous challenging dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Loveable characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Not as good as the first two.

This was definitely a don't-put-it-down, do-chores-while-reading kind of novel. I absolutely loved it. I am always simulatenously thrilled and upset when I realize that the tiniest detail that I wrote off as a mean-nothing-tiny -detail turns out to be something important.

This might be my favorite Cormoran Strike novel for the personal relationships of the characters as much as the mystery at hand. I love reading about how Strike's relationship with Robin has grown as the pair have solved mysteries, the relationship between Robin & her fiance, and the various other friends & relations that join in throughout the tale. There were some triumphs (in my eyes) in the personal narratives of the characters, but of course the real triumph was the solving of the mystery that dragged Strike, Robin, and their friends & family directly into the line of fire.

The mystery itself begins when Robin takes a package from a courier, expecting it to be disposable cameras for her wedding, and finds a woman's leg tucked inside. The leg brings the police directly into Strike's office to figure out where the leg came from and who from Strike's past might want to involve him in the case. We learn more about Strike's past based on his suspect list and more about Robin's when the incident sets her relationship with her fiance on edge. As the mystery unfolds, personal and professional lines are blurred as their pasts are dragged into the investigation and Robin seems to be a target of the killer. Of course, Strike proves himself to be the right man for the job and helps uncover the clues that make me smack my head and go "Why didn't I pick up on that?" Overall, this was a great story and one I'm glad that I finally read!

Relativ klassischer und sehr gut konstruierter Krimi, dessen Finale aber irgendwie ein wenig flau rüberkommt.
