Fast paced and full of intrigue!

Wow, what a wild ride! Erica and Lee's chemistry is perfect. The book is a great balance of mystery and romance. Learning about archaeology was an added bonus.

Romantic thriller with real-world historical details. The author's note validates the true story behind many of the plot details. A female archeologist is saddled with a seemingly-incompetent intern who is secretly a skilled computer hacker. They're both secretly investigating each other in the office... and in the bedroom.

The threats of sexual violence are a little heavy handed and the smutty scenes are a little blunt. But it's a fun, adventurous read!

Enjoyed. The MMC was kind of a jerk when he didn’t need to be.

it wasn't particularly well written and a lot of the plot points were stupid as heck but somehow I enjoyed this?

The first 30% was fast-paced and interesting. The push-pull dynamic between the MCs and the banter (especially from the MMC) was also entertaining, but it soon became rather repetitive. The main suspense plot could have been much better, though. The premise was solid, but the plot development was slow. The conflicts felt repetitive too—the FMC hiding what had happened, the MMC concealing his identity, and then they temporarily resolve the issue with sex.

It’s clear that the book is well-researched, and the author knows the subject matter well, but the plot doesn't allow readers to figure out the culprit or how the events unfold. It feels more like it's on autopilot.

I believe the later books in the series are shorter, so I hope they are more concise and less convoluted. The subject matter and the background (archaeology, politics, etc.) are interesting, so I might give another book in the series a try.
