Although I have previously read The Secret Adversary, it served well for a re-read. Whodunnits are sometimes more fun to read when you know the who-that-did-it and can gleefully enjoy having one over the protagonists in the mystery solving.
There is something so refreshing about having the mystery solvers be bright young things who are clever rather than the seasoned detective with years of experience. Tommy and Tuppence are both engaging, and make the reader root for their success. The international espionage is a tad unbelievable but there is plenty of adventure to be had.
This is Christie's second published novel and at some parts it shows as the many facets of the plot all go haywire and crash into the finale. Nevertheless, it is equally as enjoyable as some of her later and more well-known work.
I can sense a whodunnit nostalgia tour starting with this re-read. I look forward to more Tommy and Tuppence in my read shelf this year.

Perhaps a low 4, but still a solid adventure tale. And one set entirely in Britain so she doesn’t get the chance to be super racist!

J'ai complètement découvert cette histoire car je n'avais jamais lu les aventures de Tommy et Tuppence. Et ce fut une excellente surprise. J'ai été complètement happée par l'histoire et comme souvent avec Agatha Christie, j'ai joué les enquêteuse au fil des pages. Ainsi j'avais bien deux suspects (comme tout le monde je pense), puis une certitude qui s'est changé en doute pour ensuite redevenir sûre et finalement être surprise.
L'intrigue est parfaite, l'enquête prenante et les personnages tellement attachants. Un ouvrage que je recommanderais fortement à ceux qui ne connaissent pas encore Tommy et Tuppence.
