Oh my gosh this was fantastic! Expect beautiful descriptions, a fantastic plot that just kept twisting, amazing world building that feels real and complex without making you feel stupid, and a cast of characters that isn't perfect but amazingly real and lovable.

The world building was awesome. I really felt like each land had its own culture and customs and mythology but I never felt confused about it either. Ada makes two friends who are also a part of the competition, who are both hilarious, sweet, and flawed in their own ways. Yes, some of the other girls competing are downright nasty, but all the girls just feel like real people and there is plenty of great girl friendship instead of just tearing each other down in competition for a boy. A boy, speaking of which, who is a pretty awesome love interest and he and Ada were the absolutely cutest together.

The antagonists were ones thought you loved to hate, but also were human and not without redeeming. And I can tell you, having read the next two books, that watching the characters learn more about each other as well as the mythology of this really cool is awesome.

And the plot twists! There are plenty and they just keep coming through this book and the next two! 5/5 stars, go read it!
