I find it takes a while to get used to O'Flaherty's prose. Just as I do the book finishes. And so it was here.
A dark book, all about the net closing in on a desperate man. Asks societal questions about a nascent Ireland; who was in charge, was religion important or performative, was life cheap, who had the right to take it, who was really in charge.
All good, interesting stuff. But the one thing that stood out for me was that when the women characters spoke (and they are far from silent, being both sides of the moral compass) they are often touching, holding it clasping their breasts. I'm not at all sure that O'Flaherty ever met a woman.

Novela brillante. El uso de los diálogos tan "coloquial" (más bien paleto) cruje en las primeras páginas al ser escrito, característica que no resulta tan extraña en el lenguaje hablado. Pero el final es absolutamente perfecto, con esa escena final redonda.
