I loved how interconnected all the stories were, especially the further you got through the book and could see the details that were missed before. I loved hearing about Sayuri described from each characters different point of view, and the overall meaning of each story and interaction. It made me feel very hopefully and inspired.

"What You Are Looking For is in the Library" is a comfort read if there ever was one. It is one of those simple, predictable, easy books that anyone can pick up to just simply go by the motions of a quiet, random day. I especially loved the fact that it was so formulaic — intro library guest, guest stumbles into library, Sayuri asks her question and hands over recommendations with a random book thrown in, Sayumi gifts the library guest with a felted keychain, then the recommendations make sense vis-a-vis whatever it was they were looking for or needed.

There is comfort in predictability. There is comfort in a narrative with not a lot of high tension.

There is comfort in the simplicity of how a story can be told.

There is comfort in finding facets of yourself in the situations and the characters who find themselves in these. (Yes, that would be me.)

It's perfect when you're too busy to read but finally found a free day to yourself. (Yes, that would be me.)

An incredibly sweet slice of life novel, with rather obvious but charming life lessons to learn from our heroes. Everything that I wished Before The Coffee Gets Cold was going to be (and wasn’t), this translation is smooth and well adapted for English audiences. A perfect easy read, I’m off to get more from the same author.
