Not only did Doyle once again have a brilliant ear in creating a persona for a first person biograpy, he wrote a darn good piece of historical fiction based on conditions in Dublin and the 1916 revolution.

That was really interesting. Didn't know anything about Ireland at the turn of the century and now I feel like I know some. Interesting plot with unpredictability, philosophical moments, and interesting historical reflections. Almost felt like the book Perfume at the beginning, but luckily that went away. Not as good as the giggler treatment.

Really enjoy Doyles poetic style of writing - it really draws you in. Thoroughly enjoyed the book but was a little dissapointed with the end however it sets up for the next in the series. I’d say the first 3/4’s of the book are 5* and the last quater more of a 3.5* for me.

I really enjoyed the first half of the book. The last half was not as good.

Great story, but the ending is a bit too much.
