Beautifully written, sensuous and evocative. I liked the main character Ivy very much, her confusion as a young woman about what to do with her life, then the flow of life taking her, making more purposeful decisions later in her life and then changing her mind. I related to this very much. I like the format of the narrative, each chapter diving deeply into just one day with many years between chapters. And the secondary characters are also written in such a way that they nearly walk off the page.
