Great novel, well written prose.

This wasn't a great book but not was it awful. It felt slightly wrong-footed and even a quick glance at Wikipedia tells you that the novelist has taken huge liberties with the true events that inspire the story. It shouldn't really matter but it bothered me all the way through as the fictional versions of these characters never rang true.

*Audiobook

I wanted to like this book more than I actually did. It has all the makings of a truly interesting story, especially because it is inspired by the real life of Einar Wegener/Lili Elbe and his remarkable wife Gerda. Something about the novel fell flat for me and I found myself supplementing with articles about the real lives of these people.

4.5 stars. It was a really emotional read for me. I think that this book is really important for everyone that is struggling with their identity.
I'm not a transgender person and I will never be, but to read about something like it... It just makes me think about the world we live in today.
Greta was my favourite character because she was by Lili's side from the very beginning. It was truly beautiful and refreshing to read about someone who is so loving and understanding.

Overall, I recommend both the book and the movie (no, they are not the same)

The premise was promising but the 2nd half fell down so very hard.

I don't have much to say about this book. I read it because I can relate to the main character and this topic is important to me, since it's very close to my heart. It was painful to read at times, but so worth it.
