such a lovely and easy read. molly is a wonderful character, and i loved occupying her mind for the time being. i found myself often frustrated with her but ultimately wishing so badly for her to be treated better, to be truly understood for who she is.
very fun novel, you could probably pick it up and finish it in a day if you felt so spirited. i’d say about halfway in, when all the conflicts had been presented, it became very hard to put down for sure.

Started off a little slow but once I got into it I was in! Well written and kept me guessing until the very end. The end was a little more anticlimactic than I normally like, but was true to the main character.

I love Molly! When we meet her, we see her neurodivergence and her vulnerability. Her world is narrow in many ways, and she works hard at doing everything the correct way.
As a guest is murdered in the hotel she works at, fingers are pointed at Molly. Who is ally, and who isn't?
I really enjoyed the twists, and the fact that I didn't see the final one coming.
I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed this book up to a point. And then I found it very challenging for reasons that are spoilers (and I won’t spoil anything here). The author spins this mystery in layers. You know a little, then a little more, each time glimpsing more of the truth. Not all is what it seems, which is often the case in a mystery. This book is sure to make the reader look in the mirror and reflect on ethical and moral choices they made in life’s gray spaces. Its seems the main character is aptly named Molly Gray.

i'll start by saying i did enjoy the book. it made me emotional, and i found it easy to read. i picked it up, and finished it in four days, and found myself thinking about it when i wasn't reading it. but i don't think it was a well written book. molly is obvious autistic, but not labeled as that for some reason. i don't actually have an issue with this, or with how she's treated poorly by other characters. i think it exemplifies how autistic people can be treated as strange, off-putting, or falsely considered as dangerous just for being, and acting autistic. with us being in the head of molly, it helps shed light on how poorly autistic people can be treated, and help people have more empathy for autistic people. although, it toes the line of straight up wanting you to pity molly, and view her as someone who is innocent, and can do no wrong-- an assumption that is dashed by the epilogue.

however, the writing is poor. the book is both too short, and too long. too short to be the mystery it tries to set up, and too long for how fast-paced the solution ended up being. the multiple twists feel like they're just there for shock value, and don't add well to the mystery. don't get me wrong, i am happy with everyone getting what they deserve, and i'm happy with molly's final decision. i think it's a mediocre attempt at a mystery. i will read the other books in the series, and can only hope they get better!
