As readers, we all knew he was sketch from the get-go. But the book took a hammer to our schnozzes during his dialogue with Molly, which about sent me into conniptions. To paraphrase:
"You talked to the cops? You didn't mention me, did you?"
An innocent, unassuming Molly: "Um, no Rodney, you silly goose. You 1000% didn't have anything to do with this."
"OK. Yes, because I totes did NOT have anything to do with conning an illegal immigrant and forcing him to transport drugs in empty hotel rooms while being in cahoots with the dead guy. Say, Giselle didn't say anything about me, did she?"
Look at the NON-SUSPEKT over here, acting like a total novice. Stop this trend, books.

Blah. Best I can say is that this was cute. I recommend it if you liked Lessons in Chemistry or House on the Cerulean Sea. If you’re interested in being challenged emotionally or intellectually…. Don’t bother.

I think this wasn’t a book for me. I am not a huge mystery reader. I also felt like the voice of the narration had an unreliable quality which I didn’t love. I think this book was well done it was just a mismatch between me and the book.
