This MAMMOTH collection of LeBlanc's works was a chore to get through. I wanted to read Lupin, and am glad I did, but the wildly uneven characterisation was hard to deal with. At times debonair Robin Hood, at others ruthless gang leader, with little chronological consistency for the changes. The short stories were bettr than the way overlong novels, and the stories that were best were when Lupin's omniscience and omnipotence ( and personal awareness thereof)  were dialled back.
