When you take a book as immensely popular as The Giver, the illustrations/art have to be top notch. This was not.

I like the way this was done, especially regarding color. Really distopian- obviously, and some points hit very close to home but it was a really well done adaptation

Beautiful graphic novel of The Giver. I loved to step back into the story in the media, it gives the original story a fresh look. The way the illustrator goes from gray to color is wonderful, really giving the reader a sense of what that community and Jonas is feeling.

I love this new genre I’ve discovered (with my sister), of graphic novels and old books made new!

In reference to The Giver, I would suggest reading the graphic novel adaptation. However, it is advisable to have prior knowledge of the book before reading the graphic novel. While it can be read as a stand-alone piece, the experience and takeaways differ between the book and the graphic novel.
