Great story

I really enjoyed this story! It kept me engaged from start to finish and even surprised me with a few things. Michael was the perfect hero, sexy, sweet and yet vulnerable. Loved him!

I just devoured this - what a terrific story. Wonderful contemporary romance with three dimensional characters and a setting that jumps off the page. The author treats the issue of PTSD with great care, and you are rooting for Michael and Emily from almost the first page. The rest of this series is going into my play list for sure.

Michael Zorn's a hunky star of an HGTV type renovation show. He's dealing with some heavy issues of PTSD stemming from a shooting a year prior. When he meets Emily, he's a bit of a wreck, trying desperately to be a good man, but fighting his demons. Emily has her own problems. Mainly a jerk of a fiance she's been hanging onto long past his shelf life. and Emily finds herself free and ready to take a chance on Michael. But will his emotional troubles undermine their perfect chemistry before they can find their footing? I really enjoyed watching Michael claw his way through his problems with the help of a steadfast friend turned lover. This was a quick read.

Picked this up because I follow Leo on Twitter and saw that this was set in Toronto. There’s some mental health rep as Michael is dealing with PTSD from having saved a group of children after the daycare owner who he was doing renos for was shot and killed by her estranged husband at work. This is referred to in flashbacks and in the present at the end so could probably use a content warning for anyone who might be triggered by it.

Loved it! Michael and Emily are complex and believable characters who are dealing with a lot of stress. I was particularly impressed by the way the author handled a very serious topic (no spoiler alerts!) with grace and sensitivity. Can't wait to read more by this author - a great read!!

Let me count the ways Michael Zorn is sexy:

Toolbelt. Is there anything sexier than a man who knows his way around a power tool?
Well...maybe if he was a tv star with a home
renovation show with his sexy brothers.
And...was in a band with them.
And...rescued a bunch of hostage children at a daycare.

Yup, Michael is the whole package and his concern for Emily just makes him sexier. Emily was lovely, too with her soft heart and relationships with her family. Her brother's character was fun and I love the idea of starting a soup business in a historic house. I also appreciated the real talk subplot about PTSD and that even though Michael was a hero, it showed how much he was affected by it.

An immersive, enjoyable read.

A Good Man by Rosanna Leo is one hot romance, my goodness!

I came into this book expecting a nice romance with a contractor and some drama. Then I got reading it and it was WAY better than I expected. Like, WAY BETTER. Can we bold an italicize and every other formatting thing we can do for those two words?

So, I better get to explaining why so it all makes sense:

First of all, this book is based in Canada. It gives me Property Brothers vibes with a group of brothers making a television show out of renovating houses.

Side note: If you have watched Property Brothers, you 100% have a crush on one of them. This book makes so much sense. This book was the Johnathan story and OMG did it make me feel like I could just throw Johnathan in there as a fan fiction and OMG this book was meant for me.

Back to the review and away from Briar's fingerling: So we meet Michael who's one of the brothers on this show. He's the contractor, is super hot, and has a dark past (which we learn about later). His crew are all helping Emily renovate a house to make it suitable for her organic soup business. If that doesn't sound like half of the people that go on these property shows then I don't know what is. But, she's engaged to Trent. Trent is the biggest jerk on the face of the planet: he's manipulative, mean, and to throw in more alliterations, all around awful. I don't think anyone likes Trent except himself.

Michael and Emily hit it off and we can tell they are totally made for each other. They are supportive of each other and have heart eyes. Buuuut, their exes are both hanging around and making this story packed full of drama. As we go along, the book gets hot and heavy for Michael and Emily (honestly, if you want some really sexy scenes, grab this book). The romance doesn't really start until about halfway through the book, which I can also respect. I like romances where they aren't suddenly in love and ta da, finished! This book took it's time to establish a relationship and make it feel real.

It's a fantastic romance, in short. I really loved Michael and Emily's dynamic. Buuuut, there's more. There's always more, isn't there?

This book does a great job of having mental health awareness apart of it. PTSD is featured and it's taken seriously. It's not a joke in anyway. I can respect this book for making a romance with realistic aspects of life in it, not make it a joke but also not make the book feel depressing for addressing it. Rosanna Leo did an incredible job.

Overall, this book is what I wanted in a romance. It was a great escape during these crazy times. The book feels real yet also is a magical wonderland to escape from the insanity of reality.

Best quote of the book: "Seize the day. Seize the man!" I am totally gonna use that one now!

Five out of five stars!

What a fun sexy read! A Good Man is the first in a series about three brothers and their home renovation show set in Toronto. This first book focuses on Michael, the oldest of the three Zorn brothers, and Emily "Em" Daniels who, along with her terrible fiance, is their latest participant on the show. Neither Em or Michael are in any kind of position to act on their initial attraction and they certainly weren't looking for each other, but find each other they did. All bets are off when Em finally dumps the chump, but can Michael open up enough to let Em all the way in? (PSA: There is NO cheating on the MC's parts. Pining and want though? Heck yes.)

Let's start with Em. She's so sweet and funny while her fiance Trent is the WORST. He's constantly taking her for granted, belittling, and gaslighting her. (Cue the Dixie Chicks.) You can really tell at the very beginning of the book that Em has fallen out of love with him, but isn't ready to let him and her plans for their future go. But, I mean, Michael is also right there. There's really no comparison. Plus he makes her laugh and gives her all sorts of lovely orgasms. Literally. No. Comparison.

Now Michael. (Content warning: Non-military PTSD.) Michael suffers from untreated PTSD after being involved in a shooting at a daycare where he was able to save the children but not the woman whose husband came that day with a gun. He's labeled a hero, but he knows he's anything but. If he'd been a hero he would have been able to save everyone that day. He tried therapy once and, like many people, decided it wasn't for him. Because of this, he's emotionally closed off and can't see a way through to letting Em into his life and into his heart. But he wants her too much to stop seeing her, and touching her, and taking care of her. (You get my drift, right?)

I was very glad to see this wasn't a "your love healed me" kind of story, because that's just not reality. And while fantasy can be a powerful tool, when it comes to mental illness, ignoring the importance of professional help and healing can be dangerous. Michael and Em work together to get him started on the road to recovery, which I loved to see.

Lastly, I wanna talk about the sex because daaaaaaamn. It hit me in the face with it's sexiness. I wouldn't necessarily say that outside the bedroom Michael is the usual Romance Alpha, but he definitely takes charge and gives Em everything she needs. And when I say Michael takes charge, I mean Michael TAKES CHARGE, ya feel?

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
