Definitely don’t sleep on this one. Fast-paced, propulsive sci-fi thriller that explores philosophy around memory. This felt a little too similar to Blake Crouch’s Recursion, but it also had some elements that made it stand on its own. I didn’t love all of the decisions that Nicholas Binge made, particularly with the ending, and I didn’t buy some of the logic, but the whole story was still very engaging. Will definitely check out whatever he writes next.

This is one of the best twisting time travel tales I've ever read, and the conceit of the time travel method is fantastic. The battles between the objectivity, subjectivity, and pliability of memory create a tension that brings this book into thriller territory to great benefit to the story, resulting in an addicting read. But without the main characters, this book wouldn't shine as brightly as it does: Maggie is an indomitable force in the face of Hassan's archvillain cruelty and hubris, and the younger Stanley we see throughout the book chases a compelling scientific dream that ultimately shapes him into a hero in his own right. An all-around outstanding book that will definitely be on my best of the year list when submission time rolls around. Highly recommend.
