This book completely consumed me. I couldn’t put this down until I finished it. Tor and Kenzi were the definition of soulmates.
Was this a taboo read? To a certain degree definitely, Tor raised Kenzi and was there for every step of her life, but he never once looked at her in any way other than his goddaughter. Yet one night just before she turns 18 something changes between them and Tor tries to fight it so much, feeling sick at the fact he no longer sees a girl in front of him but a woman. But Kenzi knows for certain the man who raised her is no longer someone she sees like an uncle but rather the only man who she can imagine spending her life with and loving unconditionally.
It was angsty, emotional, heart wrenching, spicy, basically a rollercoaster of emotions and I loved every second of this journey.
If you like a dads best friend, age gap, forbidden romance, then this will tick every box for you. It wasn’t just a taboo spicy book, it was emotional and romantic and an unforgettable read.

It’s taken me far to long to read a Carian Cole novel and now I want to go back and read them all! This is an exceptionally written forbidden romance filled with steam and a whole lot of heart. Had I not had so much going on in my life this past week I would have finished this in one sitting- that’s how good it is!
If you’re looking for an age gap, father’s best friend, forbidden romance then Torn is the book for you! It follows the life of Kenzi and Toren (both through the past and the present) as their bond strengthens from being pseudo-family members (she’s grown up considering him her uncle) to soulmates and life partners. There’s nothing perverted about it either even though Tor practically raised Kenzi alongside his two best friends (their book is ASHER and can be read as a standalone) and it honestly just feels RIGHT for these characters. Watching their journey unfold was beautiful.
All in all, I’m so glad I chose this as my first Carian Cole novel and I’m excited to read more. I’ve already downloaded Asher’s story because I’m intrigued by the premise (his wife/Kenzi’s mother has just woken up from a 4-year long coma). I can’t wait to start it! Oh, and of course I recommend this one!

BORING!!!
This book is an example 'Don't let the high rating fool you' because this doesn't deserve over 4 stars (at the time of this review).
I love age gap and forbidden romances as much as the next person but Cole managed to take those two aspects and make them drab af.
Tor and Kenzi faced no real consequences for their relationship even though the dude basically helped raise her from birth. There was grooming even though it may have been unintentional.
I wish she had at least taken her dad's advice and been in other relationships/ explore the world more before settling down at fucking 18

I think that the people who rated this book anything more than one star (at best) are really forgetting the whole plot of it. The tropes would be perfectly fine, friends to lovers, forbidden romance and what not, but the guy raised her. He knew her ever since she was a literal new born and has watched her grow up. He was assigned the title of "uncle" and godparent by her parents. This is utterly disgusting and wrong on so many levels I can't even begin to describe.
