Overall, I enjoyed this book and the series. I'm struggling a little with caring about everything and stay interested. I think it's a bit of a"series fatigue" or something.

Laurence and Temeraire go to Australia and try desperately to stay out of politics. That's basically the book. It's very good once again but poor Laurence completes his journey to complete disillusionment and it is very upsetting. There are two reasons why this book is on my 'ouch' shelf and this is the main one, though there is another relating to a certain Mr Tharkay.
Laurence and Temeraire share the limelight once again and be warned that there are some very cute moments. There is also, on a more serious note, discussion of the treatment of dragons that hatch handicapped that may prove upsetting.
Novik does a great job on integrating Australia into her world as well as putting Laurence and Temeraire in impossible situations!!!
