Beautifully written, well-explored themes, and interesting plot. The fact that this was one of the first of its genre and written by an 18 year old is insane.

This was such a fun and tragic and satisfying read by far has just become one of my favourite classics! I loved how at first I felt really sorry for the monster as he just wanted companionship and to be loved but then I started to feel horrified by the monster and his acts of violence and I felt sorry for Frankenstein instead however...by the end...I was back to feeling heartbreak for the monster again!

There were many moments of unexpected shock too like for some reason I didn't think the monster was the one who'd killed William as it didn't make sense at the time (how would he have found and killed him) but how wrong was I and also the moment when the dead man on the beach was identifies as Henry...was really not expecting that!

Absolutely loved how there was a storytelling within storytelling element...Walton was recouting his version to his sister in letter format of the story that Frankenstein was telling Walton and the monster had also told his story of events to Frankenstein...sort of luke that Chinese whispers game!

There were a lot of good quotes in this story too which I liked regarding humankind and probably one of the better written classics i've read, language was easy to follow and flowed well. I also loves how different this original source material is to all the many adaptations as I found that a lot of the adaptations are nothing to do with the book...like the whole giving life with electricity (or it was more subtle in the book with the whole lightning explanation) or even just the "its aliivveee" phrase. I actually much preferred the book in this respect!

Highly recommend this book and definitely need to pick up a hard copy for ny shelves!
