It's not my cup of tea particularly (I'm just not a fan of the "illustrated madcap humour" genre), but I can see this going down very well with the late KS1/early KS2 crowd, especially if they're not hugely confident readers. One I might seriously consider for the school library.

Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

I have not read these, but my reluctant reader devoured this entire series, so it’s 5 stars in my eyes.
funny fast-paced

Read with my Year 3/4 class in 2024.

CATNARY TILL THE END!!!!!

Another reading recommendation from my 7yo. I liked how the authors managed to tie together all kinds of random things. The different parts of the story feel disparate, but almost everything comes together for a purpose in the end. A silly book, but I’ll for sure continue picking up the rest of the series for my son to read. I would say this is a great book for kids who love graphic novels to transition into more traditional chapter books.
funny lighthearted tense fast-paced

Pure silliness ensues! Not my cup of tea, but my students adore them.
