'Where are we going?'
'Looking for trouble.'

Ladies and gents, my new favorite boyfriend: Wei Ying <3
I loved his arc, his descent into dark cultivation and how everyone was quick to forsake him because of his dark practices. The way he's such a mischevious, cunning flirt and obviously his whole 'dark lord' aesthetic.

'Clearly every time you part with him on bad terms, so why do you keep on trying to get him annoyed?'
Wei WuXian thought about it, 'I'm ridiculous?'

I was so invested in his relationships: firstly with Lan WangJi (duh) the whole frozen vibe and the slowburn and the angst... We stan WangXian in this house that's all I can say without starting a spoilery rant. And secondly with the Jiang siblings, I thought their dynamic was so endearing and the bromance between the two boys grew complicated as the story progresses.
In another note, Jiang YanLi deserves the world, she's an angel.

'With thousands of words, there was nowhere to start.'

There was also a lot of humor and sass present and to me, the fierce corpses concept was pretty original. The past + present storylines were both really intriguing, I found the villains here were so well rounded and such fucking psychos at that!!!
Comparing this to HOB, i much rather the political intrigues and the relationships between supporting characters and MCs.
I was much more invested and so I enjoyed the general feel of this story a bit more.

This must have been one of the best xianxia genre book I have EVER read. And that means something to me since I've read a lot of them ever since childhood due to fascination in the subject.

I completely fell in love with Wei Ying's playful character and thoroughly enjoyed his jokes every single time and he was perfectly balanced by Lan Zhan's stoic nature. Hoever what I enjoyed even more was the suspense and the non-linear style in which this book was written in, although I could understan why some people might find it confusing.

I 100% recommned this book to anyone inetersted in the xianxia genre.
medium-paced

Lo disfruté MUCHÍSIMO y la escena de la declaración vivirá por siempre en mi corazón sin pagar renta.

I can't even begin to talk about the perfection that this book is. I came into it fully believing that I'll fall more in love with Wei Wuxian but I couldn't imagine how much I would love with Lan Wangji. The devotion he has. The love he has. All the little things that you notice later on like the flower that he kept for 13 years, the Emperor's smile that he kept under the floorboards, the rabbits, the scars and every time LWJ got drunk I squealed like an idiot from the cuteness
Finally I would like to say that love is WangXian and nothing and no one can convince me otherwise

This would have been a 2.5 star novel if it hadn't been for the show. It really provided a ton of helpful context for understanding the series adaptation. I know some people like the novel better than the show, but for me the show worked better!

Updated: this book just has the ability to consume my entire life when reading it and leave me with a profound sense of grief when I finish it. Now to attempt to go about my daily life while replaying the live-action soundtrack on repeat until I decide to watch the show again...

My heart is so full right now. This blew away expectations (which were already so high from the show and other people's reviews) and I find myself already wanting to relive this and re-read this (at least) 1000 page monstrosity.

The dynamic between WangXian is just so perfect, I'm so sad I don't get to read about them anymore! Honestly, if anyone is looking to kill time right now, this is 1000 pages of intense chemistry, laughs, pain, happiness, and one of my now all time favourite romances! 100% recommend this read!

(The English version can be read on Exiled Rebels Scanlation and the show is called The Untamed and can be found on Netflix)
