What an amazing story!
This took me out of my reading slump. The story is so interesting, the mystery is brilliant, and the characters are exceptional. Lan Zhan & Wei Wuxian, I love you both.

Finally done with this! I'm afraid I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, probably because I watched the Untamed first and preferred it overall (the way some plot points were expanded, as well as the focus on certain characters, and I actually thought the romance more moving in the show).
Also, the translation didn't help. I think the best translations make you forget they're translations at all, and it wasn't the case there. Although I do applaud the work done to make the book accessible to us, especially given that there isn't any official translation yet.
Anyways, back to the novel itself. It's huge, and ambitious, with many very well threaded plot points, and the switch between present and past is well handled. The characters are also great. It has given us an unforgettable love story, only for it to be reworked in other medium, and for that alone it must be lauded.

First, this is a very, very long book and at times not having watched the anime I would be like oh my god I need a visual of this to understand it, and the names… oh the names it took me a while to get used to everyone and visualize everyone in my head correctly
HOWEVER I really-really enjoyed the book the cold demeanor of one while the hot temper of the other, and it had a very nicely done solid story the romance was very subtle and developed at the end mostly and quite…quick? He went from oh I am not gay to btw I wanted to have sex with you. At the end, they are both sweethearts and I enjoyed the book a lot, which makes this a 5-star rating. Their dynamic was amazing after all, and I read throughout without being bored for a second no matter the length
