The second book in the series, it focuses on the re-telling of ‘Cinderella’ through the second sister, Eden. I love learning new details about Lady Eville, all the sisters, and their backgrounds. I relate to Eden’s wavering self-esteem and I loved seeing her power and confidence grow as it felt realistic. She didn’t just one day feel so much stronger, even at the end of the book she has doubts which I like.
I loved the love triangle (or more if you include the other girls) between Eden, Prince Evander and Dorian. I rooted for Dorian since the beginning as their chemistry was great, and his backstory made him even more loveable. I didn’t predict every twist in this story, which I like in a book. The storyline of Eden also acting as the fairy godmother was cool, but not explored enough for me. I found the Tess and Nessa characters quite confusing - I wasn’t really sure what their purpose was? Loved the magical menagerie troupe plot though. I do think this book was slightly better than the first, so I’m excited to read the rest.
