I know I said the last Kay Scarpetta book was the best so far but this one beats it by a landslide. It was pretty disorienting to learn about Mark’s death that occurred in between books (I guess?) but after that jarring start the mystery was tight and so complex and fun to read through. I was SO GLAD that the mystery wasn’t solved by someone breaking into Kay’s house or something like that, because that was getting really old. She was just good at her job and I feel like her relationships with Benton/Marino/Lucy were really compelling. I cant wait to see where her career goes next and I’m fired up about Patricia Cornwell’s writing getting better and better with each book.
