If you like the steam-punk adventures, then this is book is for you.!
I should say I liked the ()Mat Cruse #2 more than this one.!

I’ve had this book sitting on my shelf for ages, as a read alike for the leviathan trilogy, which I still love. And it’s a great read alike for that. It’s also a damn fun read, with lots of adventure and action.

A little bit Steampunk, a little bit Adventure, little bit Coming of Age, a little bit Romance. An excellent Science Fiction read.

I have marked the sequel as "to read", but won't order it immediately. Still when the time comes, I look forward to seeing what Kate and Matt get up to next.

For me the young adventure story is not an everyday diet. When it is fresh, I thoroughly enjoy the taste, but must clear my palate for a while before I take another bite.

Read this nearly a decade ago and I couldn't remember what it was about. I'm glad I reread it. I loved its pacing and the author's storytelling. It seemed a bit slower than some of the books I've read, but it's still action-packed. Matt is a great protagonist, and I'm excited to continue the series to see what happens next.

Everything you’d want in a grand adventure! One star off for the MC’s sometimes negative attitudes toward the female character and her character development herself. I could tell a man wrote this with my eyes closed. Still a great book tho!

It's been 10 years ish since I last read this trilogy, and I can't believe I've never written a review for it?! wild. The Matt Cruse trilogy is amazing. I love the setting; the old world and aeronautical atmosphere Oppel's built to support Cruse's legendary light heart, for he is not afraid of heights. The characters are great, Matt Cruse being a hard working cabin boy with a great sense of loyalty, Kate de Vries a haughty feminist with a thirst for fame and knowledge, and I love Vlad, the cook that makes a small appearance in each book. This book is labelled for younger adults, but it has a wide variety of themes, great world building, and lots of action for the older reader, and Oppel is an awesome writer. 10/10, will always recommend.
