I’m sad to say that there was just so much about this book that I did not like, mostly between the plot and the writing. The writing felt like there was a lot of cringe parts and just a lot of long winded speeches. It was the plot that I just could not handle though. Mia and Ollie just felt completely unrealistic, especially with them basically falling in love almost immediately, but Mia continuously pushing him away and sleeping with other guys but then getting super jealous when other girls even looked or got close to Ollie. Also her being put into the actual psych ward and then seemingly making no progress, but then being taken right out seemed unrealistic as well as the group sit therapy session where the therapist was literally terrible and forced her to share her trauma with everyone for seemingly no reason. All of the stuff Oscar, including him being Ollie’s brother was also just crazy. But it was the ending with Ollie taking his meds and doing a complete 180 not even acknowledging Mia pretty much that fully turned me off of the series.
I’m having a hard time rating this because I have conflicting feelings. I really did enjoy reading this and I kept wanting to pick it up. But it very insta-love/ love at first sight in a mental health facility and having worked in mental health/substance abuse facilities for the past few years all I could think of was “rehab romance.” And I didn’t get the demonization of psych meds in the storyline- many of the characters would have probably benefited from the RIGHT medication instead of encouraging each other not to take it because it made them worse of a person. I did love Ollie as a character and Mia’s growth and journey working through her trauma.
I’m screaming and crying right now. the ending-
miaollie get behind me I’ll protect you. literally the definition of deserve better
miaollie get behind me I’ll protect you. literally the definition of deserve better
Q: How far would you go to protect yourself from going to prison?

In a desperate final attempt to save nineteen-year-old Mia from herself, she gets transferred to Dolor University, a reformatory college in the UK that housed deranged and dangerous young adults who viewed the private institution as their own personal playground. Mia didn't care. She needed feelings to care. She'd keep her head down, ignore everyone, and make it through the next two years effortlessly. Though Mia never anticipated Ollie Masters. With green eyes, tattoos, and the voice of a poet, she is quickly drawn to him. But because of her sociopath tendencies, she knows it could only end in one of two ways. Either he will be the one to free her from her past, or she will be the one to destroy him.

I have mixed opinions on this book. It did have a really slow start and for the first 30-40% of the book I really really hated it and just wanted to give up with it because it was really boring but I believe that was because it had to set up and show the reasons Mia ended up in the place she was. After that I ended up loving it. I loved Ollie Masters and how much he clearly loved Mia despite everything she did to him. The book finished on a cliffhanger and was actually very heartbreaking. Despite my love-hate relationship with the way it was told I will definitely be reading the next two books, I’m desperate to find out how the story is going to progress for the pair! I did give it 3 stars but could stretch to 4 if pushed.

Q: Have you read it? What did you think?
this book had no business ripping my heart out of my chest and stomping it into a bloody pulp
Stay with Me
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
!I’d advise to look at trigger warnings!
Okay so I fell in love with this book, and it is now one of my faves. She may come across as a pick me girl at first but trust me she’s not. The more you read, the more you discover about her and how much pain she has been through and is in.
This book was absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful all in one, some of the scenes in this book hurt me physically, like I’d been punched in the stomach. Every time they were at least a bit happy, or everything was okay I closed the book because I was so scared of anything happening to my loves. I’d literally protect them with my life so they could have each other forever. I couldn’t care less about anything except for their emotional relationship.
I loved their love language, all their small touches that meant so much more. Brushing their noses, forehead kisses, lacing their fingers together, hugs from behind, whispering in each other’s ears. Omg they are the cutest.
It had a slow start but if you are intrigued by the first few chapters, I’d definitely recommend reading it. It only gets better and better from then on. It was like reading pure poetry. I’ve always believed in one thing, and that is soulmates. This book just proves it. This is truly one of my new favorite books I’ll cherish forever.
