Lots of trigger warnings for this one: sexual assault, rape, drugs and alcohol abuse. This is one of those stories that you can’t look away from. Watching these kids progress while in a reformatory school is enthralling. The story telling is so lifelike I often felt like I was in Mia shoes! It’s covers hard topics but is very well done.

I read this book in a day, which is quite rare for me, but I couldn’t put it down. First off, the traumas explored in this book are heavy so please proceed with caution. I willingly allowed Mia and Ollie’s story to draw me in and let me drown in it, but it was Ollie who left my heart in pieces. His vulnerability, strength, determination and unwavering patience while Mia worked through her trauma was everything I could have wanted from his character. Even while working through his own, he showed that love is worth feeling even if it can be debilitating. As someone who fluctuates between feeling absolutely nothing to everything all at once this book touched certain parts of my heart that I didn’t even know existed. I was beyond anxious for the ending, even knowing there are more books in the series, and rightfully so because it left my heart an absolute mess. Excuse me while I go wreck my heart with the second book.

Mia a young adult who seemingly doesn’t feel emotions innocent to dollar in place of going to jail as a last resort there she realizes that this thing that happened to her as a child is the reason that she’s seemingly gonna feel anything her entire life, but all of that collapses when she meets Ollie someone with the absolute opposite of her problem, he feels “to much” so she can’t see anything why every time she sees him across the hall her heart beats a little faster
