In this book, we meet Armitage, Angie and Ade again, dealing with another very peculiar murder investigation. Like in the first book, the case was well thought out and very original. I couldn't have predicted some of the turns the plot took and I thought it was quite clever.
Similarly to the first book though, I had the feeling that the story dragged a little. A lot of the discussions were repetitive and just distracted me from the main story, making me lose interest until everything picked up again. The love story (or maybe crush?) between Armitage and Ade is frustratingly slow, I wished at this point something more happened.

Local newsreader Dave Richmond has been found murdered. The murderer? A demon. Naturally Armitage’s curiosity is piqued and she starts her own investigation, which has deadly consequences…
I like the characters, although at times, I struggled with how curious Armitage is as she cannot let anything go and needs to get to the bottom of everything. I do like the sprinkle of romance and supernatural elements in this book, because the murders were quite graphic so they help to give it a lighter feel. Although, I thought by the second book the romance would be a bit further along - it’s like they go back and forwards between ‘should I, should I not’, which gives me having a crush in school vibes.
I did enjoy this book more than the first in the series but to me, it started off slow and the pace didn’t seem to pick up until 40% mark where I found myself wanting to pick up the book more. A lot of aspects within this book are not realistic. I also don’t like the use of a derogatory slur against the disabled community that is included within this book.
⚠️ CWs: derogatory slur and language, slutshaming, murder, blood, alcohol use, person with alcohol use disorder, profanity, drunk driving, physical assault, mentions vomiting, drug use ⚠️
