I'm glad Ausma Zehanat Khan exists. her mysteries never puzzle and astonish me in the way of Agatha Christie, but they're reliably thoughtful and interesting. this series continues to follow the town of Blackwater Falls and the law enforcement professionals who are doing their best there.

This is the most thoughtful police procedural series out right now and the only way to do one for the modern world.

I read that police procedural is not so accurate in this book but being that I don’t know police procedural I won’t complain. In fact it is a timely tale of white supremacy and crooked cops (maybe).
Khan never disappoints.
