I really liked the concept, and the mystery was exciting and everything, but man I could NOT get past the insufferable protagonist. You'd think that, after learning she can't remember anything after falling asleep, she would write down more helpful things on her arms that just 'stay awake' or 'don't fall asleep'. What exactly was her end game here if she knows she can't remember things, but never takes steps to make anything easier on herself, and literally cannot stay awake forever. Anytime she was close to getting help or an explanation, she ran away, fell asleep, and the whole stupid thing started over again. Take out her parts and have just the detectives and that should be the book.

The premise was so intriguing and I really couldn't put it down! Giving it 3.5 stars as I didn't love the author's style of writing and felt like the mystery didn't fully wrap up in the end. I needed more answers!
Listened to this audio book to stay awake on an 8 hour overnight road trip, it did what I needed it to do lol
This story started as a slow build for me. Liv has no memory of the past 2 years because she is suffering from trauma induced amnesia, only she doesn't know it. She wakes up in strange locations, everytime she falls asleep, her memory reset to the day of the events that changed her life forever. It is a bit like Groundhog's Day in the early chapters. As the story goes on the pace really picks up to a high tension climax. Liv's unreliable memory really adds to the psychological impact of this thrillers storyline.

Not the greatest writing and one of the narrators was annoying.
Plus there were many times that a character made dumb decisions so the story could progress a certain way. Ugh. But it kept my attention and I didn’t predict the ending.

October book club pick will update after book discussion
This is my first book I have read by Megan Goldin, and my first book that revolved around amnesia. And while I didn’t hate the book, I didn’t fully love it. I found the MC Liv to be annoying. I just couldn’t fully pinpoint why she was annoying, other than stupid things she would do. I get it, she has amnesia, but I just found myself annoyed with her actions. I kinda pieced together a few things that happened, and was intrigued with how the book was going to end. But then the end happened and was left wanting more. I needed more of an explanation on certain events and why it happened.
I am definitely going to check out Goldin backlog to see if maybe this one was just a one off for me.

I love the two narrations to distinguish the two main characters. I love the suspense and always wanted to know more. I had many theory as I read. I also loved how you could feel the panic of Liv throughout the book. Overall, it was easy to read and understand.
