Stay Awake is definitely a page turner and an easy read. Awesome premise with Memento/50 First Dates vibe just don't over think it - like why would a Lexus be able to lock someone INSIDE? - and then you'll enjoy!

Should have been a 5 star read, but I guess we really just can't have nice things.

- 1 ⭐️ for that basic ending without sufficient justification and explanation for all the trauma

- 1 ⭐️ for Liv's dumbassery

(read via audiobook)

This book is what would happen if Memento was about a woman who writes on her hand instead of a man with tattoos. A glaring error: the book claims that Williamsburg, one of the safest neighborhoods in Brooklyn, has the second highest murder rate and has a murder almost every day. In truth, Williamsburg has less than 10 murders per year. Good thing this is fiction!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the haze of post traumatic amnesia

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the compelling police detective Halliday

⭐️⭐️ time jumps
⭐️⭐️ unnecessary and convoluted insertion of London as part of the NYC plot

I enjoyed this! It was a bit slow to begin but really ramped up at the last half. Recommend for a good psychological thriller!

DID NOT FINISH

DNF @ 50% but I did skip to the end to see how it ends.

I guess I must have read a different book to all the other ARC-reviewers because while they’re gushing over how good this is I’m left stunned by how bad Goldin’s writing is. So so so so much word-for-word repetition, so much telling instead of showing and dialog so wooden this book is practically a forest. I liked the Memento-style plot to begin with but I got so tired with how poorly this was written that I just couldn’t stick with it. Hard to believe that this is a traditionally published book that’s presumably been edited rather than some first-attempt shite on Kindle Unlimited.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced review copy.

Talk about a book dragging you into the pages and making you feel as if you're in the story! Goodness but this book did just that. I was so afraid to fell asleep reading and think I would forget...

I won't go into a lot of detail about the book because I think just reading the blurb is enough. I absolutely enjoyed this well written, plot driven, twisted, engaging, sometimes a bit over the top but all together fantastic thriller with a slightly unique bullet point to our unreliable narrator.

I could go on for a ridiculous word count of a review telling you how this book was everything I was looking for and more, but I will leave it at that.

I do have to say one thing, that end did leave me with a smile. I was SO hoping that would happen. When you read it, you'll know what I mean.

Megan Golding is becoming an auto buy/auto request author for me and putting that level of trust in an author is a big deal.

Just do yourself a favor.
