I was in between books and looking for something that wouldn't require too much thinking or commitment, and I wound up loving this book far more than I expected. The premise was only okay for me, but I like Fiona Davis. I can't put my finger on any one aspect of this story that pulled me in, but I absolutely devoured this book, even up staying late to finish it (which is generally a "hell no" now that I have a kid). I definitely enjoyed the 1920s storyline more than the 1960s one, but I found all the characters to be well developed and interesting in their own ways. I highly recommend this for anyone looking to scratch an itch for a fast-paced, somewhat-twisty historical fiction.

Good (not great) historical fiction. 3.75 stars? Quick read for a book club and enjoyable. I'll be interested in our discussion to see what others think of the dual story line and writing.
