I finished this in one day. I enjoyed the story from both timelines and felt the author did a good ultimately tying them together. I love art history and historical fiction in general, so I personally found this book to be very interesting. There isn't any profound character development or deep human truths that surprised me in this book, but I don't think that's what it was going for. If you like historical fiction with a hint of romance and a hint of mystery than this book is a great option.

As enchanting a story as all of Ms. Davis’ stories are, the history is what grabs you in this one. The Frick House its art and book collections in NY are the primary backdrop of the story of the Frick family and it’s staff. We are taken on a journey of longing, grief, love, adversity, strength, and above all art, that caused me upon finishing the book to immediately search out the home’s pictures, art and the non fictional story. How many books do you read that capture your interest so much that you instantly need more! Very few. But this story is so good that when you’re done here is the link!

This was such a fun and lovely read. The focus of this novel really is on some very interesting and strong women, and it taking place in a historical genre was great. I did NOT see the twist coming at the end, lots of drama to keep you on your toes! The ending was done very well and was quite heartwarming. I’ll definitely be checking out this author’s other novels.
