I picked this book up because I needed an easy read and it really was so. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did tbqh. It was cute, it's a good one for when you want to just relax and take your mind off things. There's a part of me that's a sucker for books like this even if I don't want to admit it lmao.
The only thing is I just didn't feel RELIEVED enough after the confrontations. Everything building up to those moments were nice but I think I wanted more TEARS and BLOOD which would be... an unrealistic expactation for this book I guess but still. I wanted to LIVE them and feel 'well, finally it's ok' after that. Anyway it did hit me in my weak spot (which is sibling relationships) so I liked it.
Also Kitty is my FAV.
"Was I talking to you?" Kitty snaps. "No, I don't think so. I was talking to my sister." AMAZING

After watching the Netflix adaptation of the story over and over again, I thought that I should check out the source material and see how it compared.
As with any book to movie adaptation there are a few differences but I was really surprised at how many small details the movie was able to incorporate from the book. As for the book itself it seemed to drag on. I liked the author's style but the characters weren't as compelling as I'd hoped they would be. Most of them fall under the typical rom-com stereotypes. However, I will say that despite the blandness of the characters, their interactions were definitely heartwarming and realistic, especially when it came to showing the relationship between the sisters. As for the plot I will say that, although I may have a bias, it just fell a little flat but did make me want to continue reading. Overall the book was enjoyable to some extent but (and this is the first time I've ever said this) I enjoyed the film much more when it came to the characters and take home message. The book hints at it but because it ends so abruptly we don't see Lara Jean fully self assured, which I would've liked to see. I'm still looking forward to reading the sequels!

It’s a very contrived plot, but a fun little book. High school me would’ve loved it!
