Donna Leon

As always, a mysterious, wild but also entertaining book. Who’d have thought Paola would be in okey this much. I’m glad it ended the way it did. Wouldn’t have wanted the murderer to get away.

Not my favorite Donna Leon on account of Brunetti's very intelligent wife Paola does some things that didn't seemed less than well thought out. My book group friends agreed on this point. Leon is fun light reading with a great setting (Venice), good food and a warm family as part of the ambience.

Liked, but didn't love this one. It starts out well, then gets a bit muddled until I no longer really cared how it ended.

A wealthy cop with a happy family seems an odd choice in a genre that is typically fueled by troubles.
medium-paced

I liked this one but not as much as some of the others. One major plot point felt unresolved and the mystery went in a different direction which is probably true to life but felt like another chapter or two could have touched on it. There is tension between Brunetti and Paola when she takes some vigilante action against travel agencies she disapproves of.
