Not much substance to it, but then it is just based on a TEDx talk. Doesn't tell you much that most people wouldn't know, I don't think. Couple of things that maybe just weren't phrased that well/over-simplified, but could be transphobic dogwhistles, and once you've read a little around Adichie's views and support for figures like JK Rowling, you know which one it is. Not really sure who it is for - it's far too basic and surface-level for adults, it misses an opportunity to share anything particularly meaningful about feminism in different cultures, and its cisnormativism makes it in my eyes fundamentally flawed.
Minor: Transphobia
hetero- & cisnormative but a good read
Given Naija culture, I'm not entirely surprised by Adichie leaving out trans & queer folks in this talk. At the same time, I'm not sure I'm ready to call her a TERF or anything – I think she was just writing from her experience. That said, I enjoyed reading about her journey to accepting and growing in feminism, as well as her take on the issues with traditional gender roles.
