This is a challenging story of a girl trying to cope with life living under an abusive father's roof. A father obsessed with living in the iron age and the brutality it afforded him.

I feel like I struggled to understand what this book was trying to convey. Also, just as a format thing, the dialogue was rather confusing since there weren't always paragraph breaks and there was no use of quotation marks. I found myself reading a paragraph a few times trying to figure out who said what.

Overall, it was an unsettling story with a lot of themes revolving around abuse and misogyny. The ending left me a bit bewildered.

Well written exploration of history, experimental archaeology, sexism, abuse, and class differences. I enjoyed the story and the descriptions very much, but the ending was abrupt and left me frustrated.
