Most of the story I was waiting for some sort of plot to kick in. It didn’t, but not every story needs a plot. If the characters were more complex and had shifting ideas, they could’ve done enough for the story. But the characters weren’t interesting to me either.

The writing was beautiful and Moss has a unique way to her prose. The detailed scenery and thoughts come simultaneously. It was fun to read. I’m looking forward to reading more from Moss.

I think it could’ve been a better story if condensed. A lot of the plot was the same day repeated. It’s definitely a read for theories, and I was looking for a simple read.

Ghost Wall is a short novella about Silvie, her parents, three archeology students, and their professor as they partake in a two week historical reenactment of England's Iron Ages. It's heavy, with a large portion of the book focusing on Silvie's abusive father.
Stylistically, it feels like reading Silvie's diary or being inside her thoughts. The lack of quotation marks for dialogue feels confusing at first but as the book progresses, it gets easier to determine who is speaking.
I will say that the ending felt rushed, and like it would benefit from five or so pages.

What a tedious novella. This isn't horror. Not, like, paranormal or supernatural or anything horror genre. This is more literary than anything else. I read it by rapidly flipping through the pages and gleaning the general plot. Took, like, 10 minutes to 'read'.

It's a story about abuse of power and misogyny and sexism. Boring, full offense, and the lack of apostrophes and indications of speech is extremely irritating to me. [Placeholder for a go fund me link to buy the author some apostrophes and periods.]

Also the lgbt rep? Nonexistent. Oh you get a flacid, pure wholesome [slur intended] white bread version of a girl having a crush on another girl. Thats it. At times I think authors just throw in a splash of lgbt rep just to claim its 'diverse' and thus becomes harder to criticize because 'omg, are you homophobic? you don't like a book with gay people in it? smh, you're horrrible!!'
