A word of warning: Don't go into this expecting a tidy ending. It ends on a huge cliffhanger. I was ready to start the second book until I was halfway through that last chapter. Now I'm really irritated and thinking about taking a break. I'm sure as an author you want readers to be so excited for the next book that they'll run out and pick up a copy immediately. This ending didn't make me excited for the next book. It makes me dread reading it, even though I still kind of want to hang out with the characters a bit more. I may pick it up eventually but I'll feel sour about it.
Graphic: Confinement, Medical content, Death, Child abuse, Sexual content, Child death, Injury/Injury detail, Cursing, Outing, Transphobia, Animal cruelty, Blood, and Animal death

There is a lot of intentional misgendering in the chapters told from thetaylorjones118's review against another edition

for the first quarter - half of this book i thought it had the potential to be a 5 star read so i am a little disappointed to be giving it a 3.5 star rating instead.
i really enjoyed the overall portrayal of magic realism and witches in today's society but some elements in the actual storyline were pretty lacklustre. the overall conflict resolution was a bit meh and it felt like it was it was built up to be this huge thing that was kind of dealt with relatively easily.
i did enjoy niamh, elle and leonie's povs, though, leonie definitely needed more chapters! she was the most interesting out of the three but was slept on a bit. helena's character went from 0-100 realy quickly with barely any character development, one page she was good, the next she was not and there was literally no inbetween.
the trans representation in this book was amazing and portrayed what being trans is like. i find it informative and educational on what life can be like for trans people and the emotions they go through.
the ending was so good though!! i’m definitely looking forward to reading the next book.
