Very good, but sometimes a bit breathless. A good solid book on how to write a screenplay in terms of motive and design.

Simultaneously inspiring and informative. How to become a Hollywood screenwriter but also sell those scripts. A good balance between passion and business! Very straightforward, gives great examples and advice. The tone is light and feels like advice. A very worth read to me!

If you can get over Snyder's reliance on exclamation points, this book makes a handful of really solid points that help frame movie watching, movie writing and story telling in general. He breaks down movies into several formulaic categories, which is interesting to read and have it to reference all in one place. The best part of this book, however, is how universal it is to story telling -- how Snyder discusses conflict in each scene, primal struggles, the intersection plot lines, the need to simplify writing, plotting the movie ahead of time, the emotional stakes of our hero. Though relying on a formulaic plot seems off-base in today's movies, there's still a ton to gain from reading a book like this.
