informative inspiring reflective fast-paced

The book was quite informative and fast paced which I enjoyed, but the author himself was very narcissistic and bragged about himself way more than he should have. I wanted to read a book about screenplay writing, not a book about how awesome and brilliant Blake Snyder is compared to everyone else in the world.

Very helpful.

"Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique?
Completely not ever been done before." -Lady Gaga, and that's because that is this book. Thank you Blake Snyder, sir!

One of those books I’d heard about for a long time before finally reading it. I enjoyed it. The story structure ideas are interesting and practical.

I think that there was a lot of good advice and a lot of bad advice in this book. It's worth the read solely for Snyder's beat sheet, though--something that I'm definitely implementing in all my future projects. Of course, it's all over the internet, so you could just find it that way instead. There are other helpful tips/tricks included, but most of it is just that conventional "writing book" material that can be found elsewhere. If you haven't read a lot of those, I'd recommend it.

"Give me the same thing, only different!"
This line is referenced over and over by Snyder, spoken by some CEO during a conversation on film. It indicates that this book is not about producing a well-thought out, creative, intriguing work, but rather that the author likes money and is letting you in on 'tips' to earn money like he does. He boasts about being a successful screenwriter but only two of his films have ever been made, and both of them were received terribly. All my thoughts were vindicated by a YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgO2XrKaFA8) that definitely explains the problems with this bundle of dead tree far better than I could. Go watch it!
