After enjoying the last two books, I expected this one to be amazing. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I am really disappointed in how this book turned out. One of the reasons I've loved the series so far is the slow eerie Gothic feel of the story. Tomb of Ancients didn't have that. Yes it still had remnants of the Gothic feel but it was so fast paced. Usually I'd love that, but it didn't fit doe this series at all.

I'm also disappointed in the lack of chemistry between Louisa and Mr. Morningside. I know this isn't marketed as a romance, but I loved their chemistry in the last two books. I hate it but I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others.

This was a very fitting ending to the House of Furies trilogy. Questions were answered, relationships resolved, villains punished. However, if House of Furies was suspense and Court of Shadows a thriller, then Tomb of Ancients was definitely action. Things happened fast. Almost too fast. It wasn't rushed, per se, but it definitely felt like the characters (and the reader) didn't get a chance to breathe after horrific situations. But perhaps that was the point. Things happened fast for Louisa, so they happened fast for us. But after the slow burn of Court of Shadows, it felt jarring to be thrown into the roiling boil of Tomb of Ancients. I was mildly disappointed when I was about 3/4 of the way through because I didn't want it to end yet. I wanted more. More of Constantinople, more of the battle at Coldthistle, more of a confrontation between Louisa and Henry. Just more. Hopefully Madeleine Roux will expand on this universe because it is just too intriguing not to. There are more binders to meet, more Dark Fae to unearth, and more lies for the Devil to concoct.

this book was...idk how to describe my feelings correctly. It was great but also for me the ending was disappointing and too damn sad.I legit cried. It was good but also I wished it could have been different. Certain characters deserved better.

also I kinda shipped Lu with everyone lol . but mostly with Henry and Lee but I also shipped Henry with Dalton but the ending ruined me oh well

I will always love Madeleine Roux's work, I've followed her since Aslyum and never have I been disappointed. This was so good. The character development, the plot. All of it, so good! The ending... a cliffhanger I NEED MORE. She's an auto-read author

There were some things that make me hesitant to say 5 though, mainly:

- It was super fastpaced and sometimes I was left having to reread bits becuase... what just happened???
- A riddle at the end of the book still confuses me... but honestly, I'm bad with riddles so I don't know, if someone can explain that to me I would be so happy.

Anyways, that's it, I love this book!!!!

Beautiful ending and also a very intriguing epilogue to book 3 of this series. I will miss being a part of this journey. One of those stories you would like to read in the comfort of your sofa or bed on a rainy day. The plot was in its own way unique with its own story. It is both dark and forbearing but light in its reading (in a way).

I think Mr. Morningside's end of story befits him and I agree with Louisa's decision. I love Lee although he only appeared in a few scenes but I was very glad how the outcome turned out although not what everyone who ships L+L was expecting.

The epilogue sits right with me and it is endearing because as by the will of gods, all of them will be reunited again for reasons as reflected in the ever-changing world between humans and the Unworld.

ACTUAL RATING 4.5

While this wasn't the best novel of the three, I feel like it was an adequate ending to the trilogy.

Although the other 2 were predominantly about Fae and making a deal with the Devil, this one took on biblical proportions. And I'm not even mad at it.

Multiple smaller characters were dealt with in the usual author way - they died. But I mean, if you have the power you may as well use it right?

Basically, I'm super glad I waited to read these until I had time to binge them all at once.

Highly recommend if you like urban fantasy, fairies, angels and demons.

— ★★★☆☆ (3.5/5) —

This finale follows Louisa, who has finally left Coldthistle house to live alone. But with another dark soul inside her, she can't live with peace. After enduring more and more threats, fate guided her back to Coldthistle.

I previously mentioned that I'm anxious about starting this book, since some reviews have pointed out how different it is from the previous two books. It did, but I found it to be more pleasing to me. It is more fast-paced, has more action scenes, and has good character development. I liked that Louisa has become stronger, and her leadership aura is shining here.

Sadly, the plot still confuses me. The battle between old gods, the vast number of creatures and entities, and the book of dark magic. It all sounds promising, though. In the end, I believe it was overdone and lacks a strong historical foundation. Even still, I give Louisa's development, the found family, and the great epilogue a half star!
