I've read alot of Manga, this may be one of the only ones that got me to close it for a brief moment out of pure horror at what I read. It's so good but damn if it didn't hit like a truck. Not for everyone that's for damn sure.
This was falsely advertised towards me. A lot of potential (the art style, topic of gender fluidity, dumb but good of heart main character), but felt rushed and underdeveloped. And more importantly, there is an unnecessary long and detailed depiction of SA of a child.

I loved this. As a queer person who never really got gender beyond sex organs and stereotypical behavior, and who has dealt with similar stuff to Arima/Maria, it really hit home. The fact that Arima/Maria gets to experience their pain and deal with their issues on their own terms, and falling for someone doesn't magically fix everything makes it even better.

Yeah as others have said in reviews, the content warnings need to be heeded! This book went in a much darker direction than I thought, goddamn. Though it did give a lot of impact to the story. The art was overall amazing, and I really appreciated the lighter moments. However, I think some of the conversations and ideas needed a bit more time and depth to be fully explored.
