What I Did Like:
+Camila is a great character. Her strength both on and off the field is admirable. She has a solid head on her shoulders and great ambition.
+The setting. This story takes place in Argentina and it’s incredibly well written. The setting is incredibly important to the story being told and care is taken to get it right.
+The ending. I adored the message that goes along with this ending being what it is. No spoilers but that was exactly the right call.
Who Should Read This One:
-Sports romance fans. Specifically those who prefer YA romance (not spicy).

YUP!!
A young girl fighting for her dreams to play soccer, while dealing with an old crush who is now a super famous soccer player abroad coming back to town? PLUS protecting her mother and brother from their father, and the threat of violence against women and girls that is rampant in the area she lives in?
This book covers so much and I love it all. Being a soccer fan myself, it was so well done and comparing her crush and her brother to real players that exist? Lovely.

Furia is such an inspiring, reflective story that shows a girl’s determination to pursue her dreams in life. I love her friendship with Roxana and complicated love story with Diego. Even though her family situation is difficult, I love how she continues to persevere and push past the boundaries and expectations of her parents and society. Although I don’t like how she lied, I understand why she thought it might help her in the long run and I like how she eventually confronted her secrets and fears. Camila is a very incredible, brave character and if she were a real person I would have been delighted to meet her! Hope everyone was as mesmerized by the book as me.

This book took me almost a month to read. Why didn't this work for me, it has all the elements I love in a book? This is the story of Camila (called Furia because of her futbol skills), a feminist futbolista in Argentina living in a world of very limited and defined gender roles. She want's to be a famous futbol player but her family has other ideas for her future. She is also the sister of a famous player and the kinda girlfriend of another famous player and she is often defined by these relationships.
In my barrio, most of the people didn't know my name or even that I existed. To them, I was only Pablo's sister, or Andrés and the seamstress' daughter — my mom, too, was nameless. But I was determined to leave my mark.
I love how many times mate is prepared and consumed in these pages and I love the feminist aspects as well as the cultural context of the novel. Set in the barrio of Rosario in Argentina, the background for Furia was rich, vibrant, and dangerous. I liked the characters, too, and the struggles that felt so real. For me, though, there was just too much soccer and obsessing about the boy.

This book is about a girl named Camilla who has dreams of becoming a famous soccer player one day. The only problem is that her parents don't really agree that girls can play soccer. She ends up joining a team anyways and hiding it from her parents. Without her parents consent she can only get so far. She needs their permission to be able to travel for games etc.
This is a beautiful story about a girl who fights for her dreams despite what everyone else thinks and what life throws her way. Her long distance boyfriend also plays soccer and wants her to put her dreams on hold to be able to follow him wherever he goes. Camilla has her own dreams though and doesn't want to put hers on hold for someone else.
