Don't hesitate to read this book even if you're like me and don't like babies/kids and have no intention of having children. The characters and the writing are excellent. The book doesn't act like being a mother is easy, nor has any agenda regarding pro- or anti- children, which I appreciated. I loved the dynamic between the main two women and how they worked together. Any personality clashes, interactions, etc were handled well and with an understood complexity (clearly a female author!), which I really appreciated. The secondary characters had their own subplots that, while you could argue weren't needed, I think did actually add to the story in this case and helped you understand their motivations. The book kept me interested by the strength of the characters and investment I had in them.
Moderate: Terminal illness and Infidelity
Minor: Lesbophobia and Misogyny
