I read this for class, and omg did I love it, I think it's the best book for any genre for any age that I read this year. I stayed up way to late one night because I couldn't wait to find out what happens to Minli and her famliy. When I was done I thought of one of my favorite characters. Minli, bright funny, and adventurous. Highly recommended for any age.
My childhood! I loved this book when I first read it. I'm sure, if I reread it now, I'll still love it.
10 stars out of 5, this book was FLAWLESS. The attention to detail was impeccable, the characters were so charming, and the core message was so wholesome and earnest and wonderfully delivered through this fairytale adventure.

Beautiful tale, with great lessons about friendship and thankfulness.
What a lovely audiobook! I really enjoyed this - essentially a book of fables with an overarching plot. The construction felt very solid. I want to give it to my friends with kids so they can read it aloud to them.

This is a superb book of stories. Storytelling at its finest. I read this book so that I could help a student I was teaching for homebound services. It is a young, middle school novel, and Newberry honor book. I was caught by page 2. It is well written and full of stories. The stories all come together to make the meaning and moral truly memorable. Everyone could learn a lesson or two from this stellar example of youth literature. I am more "fortunate" for having read it.
